Good afternoon my Little Bird, an elderly guard greeted me when I entered the British Museum of Natural History one chilly Friday in March. I had run with all my forces through the city centre of London to see the last glimpse of the amazing photo exhibition of Wildlife and Environment (see earlier writings) before it was closed for good. I had read about it a lot and almost given up hope to see it, but here I was, really here and except for a sweathy face, I had smiling lips.
I have always liked really BIG buildings. Buildings that make me feel small, bulings that shine with their presence in the city. This was one of those buildings. Although my previous numberous amount of visits in London, I had never been here. Never imagined the size and beauty of the building -especially inside. I just thought it's "one of those gothic houses" London is full of. I was wrong. The space opened up with all its knowledge and wisdom to me. It felt like a huge library. As a child I wanted to collect books (even though I would never read them), but the thought of all the knowledge on my shelves intrigued me. I felt all the same again. I didn't know where to start so I had to sit down in the middle of the main hall and investigate in the beauty of this space I was surrounded by. This is only a small brief of what I saw, but I hope you can enjoy it - it looks a little like an optical illusion :)
